Hi, put the error code reader on my jeep and thats what i got, looked underneath and the Cherokee has 2 what look like Oxy sensors , one in the normal spot further down the pipe, and 1 up near the start of the manifold up front, anybody able to explain why it has 2 ?, cheers.

Sounds like you have an OBD2 system which us standard for most makes and models past a certain year (96?) - its so the computer knows how effective your cat converter is.

Have a google for that code and "xj cherokee 4.0" and see what comes up.

Also make sure you download a factory service manual for your year model, might have info there for you - link should be in the stickies for this forum.

Sensor 1 is the upstream sensor which is used for fuel air ratio monitoring. The second sensor is for monitoring the condition of the cat.

Took front bash plate off, have in the heck do you remove/install one of these ?, can hardly see it !

Easy as...
I just did mine the other day. I had to cut the wires and use a 22mm deep socket, a long breaker bar and lay down under the car and push the bar with my foot.

Changing the O2's made a world of difference.....so far.
