Default Silent Armor Tyres and Punctures

Like every one else my JKU came fitted with the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor A/T tyres.

What I'd like to know is two fold. How resistant are these tyres to stone punctures coming through the tread and how resistant to sidewall damage from stones/rocks are they.

I drive a lot of loose stone/rocky fire trail tracks in North East Vic and I have no wish to be swapping wheels track side due to a stone puncture. My pet hate is changing wheels in the bush.

On my other fourby, a Range Rover, I have run two sets of Bridgestone Desert Duellers 604V All Terrains and currently have Toyo Open Counry M&S All Terrains fitted. Neither the Bridgestones nor the Toyo has given me any grief at all let alone by incurring a stone puncture. In fact I am very happy with them both.

What is the collective experience re the Silent Armors and stone punctures guys?

Thanks.

The silent armour are only passenger construction I think so they will arguably not be strong as an LT AT. That said, in the 50000km I ran my silent armours I only had one puncture through the tread and no issues with the side walls so I didn't have a bad run with them. I don't do any hard core 4WD'ing but they saw plenty of fire trails and took a hammering. This is also my first 4WD and I've been learning as I go so I've no doubt they didn't get deflated as much or as often as they should have done either. Overall they were a lot better than I expected.......although the first sign of a damp track and you'll be wishing you had something more aggressive.

I have been camping and driving around the same property for 2.5 years on the stock tyres and they are as good as new. I trip with mud tyres, same property, same tracks, similar pressures, and i have more damage than 6 trips on stock tyres

Had 3 go due to un fixable punctures. 2 through the sidewall and one that was too large to repair through the tread.

A mate of mine is running these on his TJ, we went wheeling around Wombat State Forest and he returned with a souvenir. A piece of a tree branch, maybe 3-5mm in diameter went through the sidewall at the bead.

Recent trip North had 2 punctures. One on the Tanami track sharp stone through the tread. The other on Gibb River Rd, same thing through the tread.
I was running higher pressure than I really wanted to to stop TPMS from going off. When it did I managed to change well before destroying tyre.
No sidewall damage which was surprising as the 245 width has a fair amount of bag hanging out.
Next time I may re-cal the TPMS to run a lower pressure.
Not a bad general purpose tyre if you also do a lot of highway. Expensive to buy so would opt for something else as replacement.
When I was looking for a 2nd spare I ended up with a complete set of 5 wheels so will run them as the old ones wear out and if the price is right may even get another set. Seems to be always someone upgrading their wheels and tyres so sets come up periodically.

Short answer Yes tyres are ok but are probably not the best.
Would I pay full retail to replace old ones No.

I'm running these tyres now for 6500 km and my advice/ opinion is:
1- tyre pressure, on the rocks I run about 22 to 25 psi.
2- wheel placement, keep in mind the sidewall construction is not as strong as LT tyres.
3- cheep from the 4 sale section here.
