Default Rear facing spot lights / reverse lights

Hi all,

So I am looking at options for mounting some rear facing lights. Call them 'work lights', 'reverse lights', whatever. After the last night drive I realised I have daylight facing forward and the light of a wet fart in a dungeon in reverse.

Wiring etc is no issue, what I am chasing is mounting ideas that don't rely on the rear bar etc. Has anyone mounted some to the body, sunk them in near the tail lights etc? The rear bar I have is a tube bar that doesn't lend itself to handy mounting spots, and I dont run the swinh away carrier full time, only when I need to run a spare, so I cant really mount of that either.

I see rigid now have a mount that attaches to the taillight to allow fitting on that (pic below). I was thinking maybe the mounts used for the tail light UHF aerials would work, (but I have one already with an aerial on it).

The other option is from Rigid again, that actually flush mounts the lights into the original tail light. I also assume I could flush mount these into the body just below/above the taillight if there was room.

Any other ideas, thoughts on these ideas?

I don't think I have a pic handy but what I did on my TJ was to use an extension pole from a 500W spotlight stand. The type you can buy from Bunnings for around $30. I just bolted a LED light on top of that.

I mounted it to the side of the spare wheel mount. When I wanted to use the light for camping, fishing etc, I'd just extend the pole to give me more light.

Cheers great idea, but as stated no tyre carrier, bar work, looking at a body mount alternative.
Want it more for night drives, when I need light to see where to reverse (rock ledges, tight trails), wont be setting it up so to speak.

Mine are mounted to the body just above my rear bar and just below the tail lights.

Mounting holes drilled about an inch or 2 up from the bottom of the body, wiring just loops in underneath and is all nicely hidden.

Only issue is that they will be submerged if you ever go through semi-deep bog holes or river crossings, so if you go this route make sure you use quality waterproof connections (if not soldered and heatshrunk) and get a light with a solid IP waterproof rating.

Would these lights fit between your bars on the bumper?

Yeah, that's what might be the best way...
