Exclamation Instrument Fault "no Bus"

JK Wrangler CRD Auto 2009 4Door

Yesterday while driving through car park at work, all instrument warning lights came on as well as wipers and headlights with "no bus" in the odometer. No stereo no interior lights.
Engine still running didn't miss a beat. Assuming this is some kind of limp home mode. Lights and wipers in case its night and raining.

I checked some forums and the fix was disconnect battery (as usual) remove instrument cluster check plugs and sockets clean and refit, did this and couldn't see anything wrong.

Refitted instrument panel, reconnected battery and now panel is dead, secondary problem is it still runs fine but cannot get out of PARK, assuming the interlock is managed via the instrument panel even when faulty but not when dead.

Has anyone got anything they can contribute to improve the situation constructively....

Dave
Repeat the process taking care with the instrument cluster and cabling and see if that clears it
Check all fuses etc
Did you try just the battery disconect first which is the first point of call for electronic issues
Next step would be to pull out the multimeter

If its the "old" dash have you done a "self test" on it ?

With the key off, press and hold the left hand "reset" button... then turn the key on to the ignition position. Dash should illuminate all the warning lamps and the gauges will cycle from zero to max.

Does the cycle two or three times then resets.....

Also check the connectors on the computer itself under the steering column.

If still no go find all the earth connectors and give them a good wiggle and tighten the nut, there are some in the drivers side kick panel area and several ynder the bonnet close to the top edge.

Been all over earth connections, pulled battery and checked ECU connections for corrosion and jiggled every wire and connection to be found.

Can't find a fuse specifically for instruments but pulled and checked every fuse and relay anyway, took radio out to check any LOCK PICK wiring looms etc. made no difference.

I'm thinking that it might be an "On Board" fuse on the cluster itself, or possibly something in the steering column?

Unless someone has a better idea it's off to the Auto Elec's to at least get it bench tested if possible or fault coded.

Had to use the Manual Release to get out of Park so I'm assuming I've busted that off cause it goes in and out of Park no problems all the time now
