manual gearbox ?
sounds like maybe a few teeth gone in first , or a shaft , or selector ,
only way to be sure is to take it out I guess and open it up.

Have you tried taking off in second? And does it make noise or not?

that is up to you , but if you do buy a second hand unit , chances are you do not know what that gearbox has been through ,
if you cant see what is wrong , you never know how much it will cost to repair
and the fact of what has your gearbox gone through ? who does the service ? was the correct gear oil used ? does someone else also use the jeep ? and if someone else does do they drive it correctly ? or do they change gear without pushing in the clutch all the way , or push it into first gear while at a 40 kay speed ?
or crunch the gears ?
it could be a syncro , a bearing , never know till it is out and looked at , if the box has suffered a broken part inside , one must consider the shrapnel and what it is doing.
never fully know till it is looked at inside the box.
