Default Jeep Extended Warranty

Hi all,

I am about to become a new 2012 GC Laredo owner and was wondering if it is worth getting the extended warranty?

Has anyone had any experiences with the extended warranty?

Cheers

I bought the Jeep 5 year as I wanted the extra km coverage, not necessarily for the extra years.

It was my first Jeep and didn't know what to expect with all the noise froming from Land Cruiser and Patrol owners...

Is it an authentic "Jeep" extended warranty covering everything the standard warranty covers or a "dealer/after market" warranty?
If it is genuine Jeep and the price is right I would consider it, if its “not” Jeep I wouldn't bother, from my experience after market warranty's have limits on how much they will pay out on individual parts ie max $3000 on engine, $2000 on G/box etc.
I would ask for a copy of the warranty documents and have a read of what's covered and what’s not before I handed over my hard earned $$$ and if you sell before the warranty period is up is the extended warranty transferable to the new owner.
Besides its a Jeep, what could possibly go wrong?

Default Extended Warranty

I have found out more. It is Jeep warranty.

There is a condition that after 3 years if you have done less than 120,000km then it is the same as the original factory warranty. I have been quoted $1599 for this.

It also includes road side assistance for the extended 3 year period.

I would very carefully read the conditions as Jeep 'farm out' their extended warranty to Swan Insurance (I think). There are certainly things that are not covered and are at the discretion of the insurance company as I found out when took up Jeeps extended warranty with my WJ.

When I purchased the Rubicon I got the extended warranty, but neglected to read the fine print. I discovered after that the vehicle had to be serviced by the dealer once the extended warranty kicked in (years 4 and 5). It was only then that I realised I had just done my dough because I will never be taking my Jeep back to the dealer for any reason, much less a service - I think it was the $400+ first service that sealed that deal
