Default Buying a new JKU

Hi All

Looking at buying a new JKU, maybe sport, maybe Rubicon.
What should i be expecting to pay?
Would like to know that I'm getting a good deal, rather than be told by the salesperson that its a good deal.
Thanks in advance.

Anyone who tries to sell you the 'renegade pack' as an optional extra is full of it, it is a standard feature in Australia. There is no JK in Aus that doesn't come with a hard top and soft top included.

If you are planning on doing some distance touring and loading up the Jeep, ask to get a GVM upgrade prior to registration as the payload for a JKU is enough to carry passengers or luggage, but not both

Try to get a towbar packaged in if possible.

Mopar lift kits do not have good reviews

Paint protection is not worth the money
Extended warranty may be worth the money depending on how you drive and where you are.

Can't think of anything else

Ask yourself the intended usage......The Rubicon is pretty much a Sport with great off-road mechanicals. If you don't need the diff locks and crawler TX case gearing and the tricky electric sway bar disconnect, then you might save some money.
JK's are probably the most capable "off the floor" 4WD sold here, even in Sport or Overland spec.
Don't know what the current prices are, but I ended up buying a 12 month old JK that saved me huge dollars over new....it didn't even look like it had been off the pavement and only had 8500kms on it. Worth thinking about.

I just picked up a 2015 jku sport about 3 weeks ago that had just turned demo (40km in the clock) for 39000 drive away. I tried getting them down further but they wouldn't budge. On carsales most seemed to be going for around the 45 mark and my local dealer quoted 52 (so well worth th 10 hour drive to pick up the new one) I think at the moment while they're trying to clear the 15 plates you can get a good deal. As for rubicon or sport, I would love a rubi but the reality is the extra capability wouldn't be used enough by me to justify the price and the sport is an extremely capable vehicle. Also that money you save goes a long way on extras. And because you don't see rubicon's as demo's it's pretty hard to screw them down on price.

It's a shame the rubicon is so much more than a sport which are everywhere and easily haggled for. Over in the states it's a bargain and a quick way to get a set of lockers.

Thumbs up

If you do any off road driving go for a Rubicon if you can, you won't regret it. The lower gearing in both 2wd and 4wd and diff locks make it worth it. It does come with a Dana 44 front diff and electric swaybar disconnect and some other bits and pieces etc. For me it was the lower gearing and diff locks as they are both expensive and sometimes difficult things to add later. Good luck

Do you really need a new vehicle from the dealer? Is the new car smell really that important in your life? Why? If you plan to use it properly then you're throwing money away...Might I suggest buying Second hand. You will be able to find yourself a vehicle that is near new (12 - 18 months old) for a fraction of the price of the new one. If you are patient and look seriously you will be able to find one with heaps of mods and low kms for less than the new price. You could easily save 30k and you will even retain the balance of the new car Warranty - let someone else's loss be your gain! I bet you can find a 2014+ jkur with 20+K in mods for less than 50k. That's instantly a 30k saving and if you don't trade your current vehicle for their stupidly low price you will save more there too.
