Default Code P0605 & P0700

Famous problematic 2003 3.7L autobox, 42RLE slightly hunts/jerks around 20-30kph.
Autobox will change up & down really good no slip at all no matter how hard or slow it's driven BUT once you turn off engine (for example to refuel) then start up and drive off the engine light comes on and stuck in second gear/limp mode.
Come back in morning start and drive off and it's fine, will change gears good, come to a complete stop and take off from first & no engine light. But turn engine off and restart then your stuck in limp mode. The oil is starting to go dark to black but no burnt oil smell yet as had oil changed using correct oil for KJ Jeep,Any ideas? Thanks.

First thing is to check your battery ,I had a battery that would start the WJ CRD Jeep fine , but tranny would stick on 2nd gear until you stopped the car , turned off the engine and restarted in D -for drive - then look off normally leaving the engine light on for a couple of minutes and error code P0700 .Bought a new battery - end of problem but like I initially mentioned -battery would actually start the car but did not have enough voltage to power up tranny solenoid pack ,ecu ,glow plugs ,a/c compressor ect ect.
See how you go before you pull the tranny out !

As above...try start in Neutral instead of Park.

Check the battery with a meter....should show about 12.5 volts at least at rest...go down not below 10 volts while cranking and should show about 13.4 volts at idle.

Bad grounds anywhere such as the battery terminals, grounding straps to chassis and engine could cause a voltage drop to the TCM as could bad grounding of the TCM itself.

Tried all that's stated here including new battery, earth & all, no good.
Was thinking does anyone know if anyone can test the transmission control module? Would love to try it in another 2003 V6 to see if it works!!

Based on my recent experience, tkae it to a transmission shop who will diagnose it properly.

I have a new solonoid pack going in on Thursday when the first place I took it to were going to doa torque converter. I would have been $1600 down and would most likely have still had the same issue.

Leave it with the code displaying and take it to somewhere good. Try to get some recommendations from people you know or your normal mechanic.

When I first took mine in the shop that will be doing the work, they refused to even speculate on the issue until I could replicate the fault.

Yes I took it to two transmission automatic specialist, only to be told what I already know that it has the two codes!!! They could not tell me if it was sensors or not without putting in new ones..

So That's why I'm asking now does anyone know who tests the TCM units before I buy another one and try?
