40K Service costs

Had my vehicle in for a service yesterday and did a comparison of what was done when compared to the 20K service.

Given that the labour cost was $502 vs $136 I did a bit of a comparison.



One has to wonder whether these few items take the labour hours from 1.05 to 3.9?

I don't take that much time to inspect a few additional items - replace the brake fluid and bleed the system, replace fuel filters, rotate/balance and align the wheels.

Given the amount of gear I had in the back I'm reasonably comfortable in saying that the spare never even got a glance (everything in the rear was just as I left it when I dropped off the car.)

I supplied all my own oil and filters so that saved me a few $'s.

I think their labour costs have gone up a bit, 40k service was ~$350 for the 40k back in june 2016. Brake fluid and fuel filter would take a bit of time.

Their prices went up after Jeep changed to 12 month servicing for the 2017 models, a bit of pay back to the dealers.

Fuel filters can be replaced in a few minutes, hardly a big, difficult or time consuming job.
