Default Nulon Apex + 10w-40 heavy duty oil

As per a post from Drover, decided to try Nulon 10w-40 heavy duty diesel oil.
Really good stuff, car runs like a clock.
Has the right CK4 spec re low ash but was wondering if being 10w-40 instead of 5w mattered and if being semi synthetic mattered.
Decided to call Nulon, spoke with their oil guy(Mike) very interesting conversation.
Basically this oil was formulated for the trucking fleet industry and is way over spec’d on jeeps requirements but they decided to release it to the general public as they are making heaps of the stuff and thought those of us with diesels that tow, drive long distances in heat etc wanted a heavy duty oil with high lubrication qualities might use it.
10w-40 no problem in a place like Australia.
I stated i was doing 5 k oil changes and his reckoning with this oil that would be totally not needed and a waist of money as at 5k the oil might be black but would still almost be new lubrication wise, minimum 10k he reckons.
He was un aware of jeeps tsb re changing their oil spec in 2016 to 5w-40 but will change their site
My thought is as these is as these engines have had odd bearing issues any oil that has both low ash and high lubrication qualities cant be bad!!

Pretty much what I deduced a couple of years back, CJ4 is more HD in semi syn and US spec, C3 euro spec and both good for the soot oven, I uppped to 40 grade as soon as I got mine and went to 10W when I found one thta was priced right ......... 10W is more than okay for Australia and 10K km oil changes for modern oils in diesels with the new blends of fuel is okay as well ........... racked up over 500,000 km in them of trouble free motoring and even if I'm over on the distance I will swap out the filter, thats the important part ..........

If your just a town driver, shops and school then changing earlier is a good idea as things can rot and thats petrol or diesel..

Think mine is on its 3rd Nulon 10W40 oil change, all sweet............

I told Nulon three years ago re oil viscosity change for the WK diesels.I have found over the years oil companies are deaf even when you give them rock solid evidence their catalogues are wrong. This includes
Penrite and Castrol!

Will switch to this brand at 10-40 given over 100k ODO and for towing no matter where you are in AU should be way better for oil pressure in any regard. Might not need to top up as much. Thanks for the research on the oil.

Oils and Oils Sol...as the saying goes...I communicated with both Penrite and Nulon a couple of years ago...have previously posted oil differences differences here.
The main difference between 5w 40 and 10w 40 is 5 degrees in cold conditions...5w is good to -30, 10w is good to -25...so in Oz doubt it will be a problem.

FCA issues there oil update in 2016 based on world conditions...not just Oz.

Just to confirm going from 5 to 10 shouldn't make one bit of difference in reality for us other than the 10W making the selection for the spec CJ4/CK4 easier and its really all about keeping the soot oven happy and hopefully a bit more HD keeping the bearings happy .......... Keeping in mind lots of Australian Spec is Euro based not so much USA, ie; fuel.

Unless you have some status in the industry they will listen but not do anything. When an representative from a car manufacturer sends them the appropriate notification, they may act.
