Default Yet another Camper Trailer

OK, thought I'd post just a couple of mini-projects either completed or in-progress on our camper trailer.

Bought it as an empty box trailer with the 14 foot camper top. Fitted a new axle with hubs to suit the XJ rims, but other than that used it pretty much as it came for a while. However, and after a few trips decided we needed:
- some water storage
- better arrangement of external storage
- a camp kitchen
- brakes
We also had issues with the rear tyre carrier on the XJ fouling the stone guard when turning left with the Jeep heading up-hill.

Here's a couple of pics of the trailer:

Bought a plastic Camel water tank (~65L) to sling underneath, and of course it didn't fit without a whole bunch of modifications - cutting the legs off and rewelding, and adding some cross members made from angle. Thanks to Glenn at Mt Barker 4x4 for helping me not chop my arms off with the grinder (and pretty much doing all the heavy work and a great job of the welding).
Grabbed a bracket for the pump and filler from a mob on eBay, and plumbed it all up. While we were at it, moved the gas bottle to the back so it can plumb into the kitchen without unclamping it, and welded a 50mm receiver for bike racks. Here's the pump etc:

The stone guard was the result of a flash of inspiration. The old one was rigidly mounted, and a pain to move when you needed to access the trailer spare. I figured a front post that would give way if it contacted the spare tyre, and then spring back, would be ideal. I had the old gas struts from the XJ tailgate lying around, and made this up - works like a treat. The stoneguard can be removed by pushing back on the front post to loosen it, and sliding it off the side posts. A couple of pics:

The stoneguard:

The kitchen is a bit of a work-in-progress, that funnily enough only progresses in spurts just before each trip. It's the full length of the trailer, and pulls out almost the whole way, being supported by the tent pole legs at one end, and locked into the trailer floor with a spring-loaded pin at the other.

The centre top area is sized to hold a Coleman stove, which is moved up to the top while in use. That wasn't the original plan, but ... these things happen.

Left hand side houses a chopping block in the top section and two wire basket drawers. Still to finish all the doors ... probably just before the next trip.

The filler I bought from Ray's; the pump came with the tank from Camel; the mounting bracket was from a camper trailer mob (Cozylifeaustralia) who were selling whole trailers on ebay but were happy to sell me just the bracket. Sent you a PM.

Awesome stuff. I can post up some pics of my Drifta kitchen which suits my coleman stove to help you with ideas if you like.
