Default How to lift a ZJ in 16 easy hours

The day started with me washing the car at 7am, we didnt finsh till after 11PM. Installed is a Rubicon Express 3.5 Super Flex lift kit for a ZJ Grand Cherokee.

The kit was from Wooders Garage. Price is variable - I opted to go for the cheapest (read slowest) shipping to save some cash. Best to PM Wooders for the price.

I still need to sort out something for the rear panhard - the kit came with a bracket but it is no good for the Australian spec cars. If i can find an adjustable rear panhard i will get one.

Included
• 3.5 inch Rubicon Express springs
• Superflex fixed lower rear control arms
• Superflex adjustable lower front control arms
• OME long travel shocks
• Rubicon Express Gen2 front quick disconnects
• Rubicon Express rear sway bar extenders
• Whiteline front adjustable panhard rod
• Rear bumpstop extensions (couldn't figure out how to install the front ones)
• Rubicon Express front brake lines

I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking.

The Rubicon Express 3.5 Super Flex lift kit

Stock rear shock vs aftermarket

Stock rear spring vs 3.5 inch lift

Shock and spring taken out

Factory control arms with slotted bushes

3 Jeeps and 1 Landrover. Slunnie was outnumbered

New control arm, spring, shock and bumpstop extension

Rear is done

Stock front shock vs aftermarket

Stock front spring vs 3.5 inch lift

Front was a bit harder. Shocks and springs out, the panhard was a bitch of a thing

Refreshment break

Bits are in, including swaybar discos

It was a long day for Simba, Slunnies dog

The end result at 11PM

I still need to install the brake lines before I can flex it up.

looks awesome. interested in those quick discos... whats happens to the swaybar when disconnected, do you tie it up out of the way? easy to connect back up again? front and rear or just front?

and did you have any drivetrain issues with 3.5" of lift?

They have a retaining pin high up in the wheel well (i am yet to install it). It is just for the front, the rear sway bar is pissweak and does very little.

I used to get a few minor vibes at about 90kmh with everything stock, now I get some minor vibes at about 45k but it is hardly noticeable. If need be i can drop the t-case by an inch.
