Default Best PS3 to get?

Howdy,

I have an orignal xbox and wii at the shack but my youngster is now keen on a ps3. My DVD has also bitten the dust, so maybe a ps3 is in the equation now.

The question is....

What is the best model to get?

I heard somewhere that the 40gb model is backward compatible with ps2 games. Is that right? Also would like it to connect to a UnUP Media server... not sure if some of them do it or all of them do...

Any help appreciated!

Cheers,
Chumby.
