My brother(and the old lady) worked of Alcan, a big minning compeny(think its called that). theres not really much up there, heaps of dirt tracks in all dirction. you'll need a permit from the land council to travel around, even to steep onto the beach.
He did say on one of hes r&rs him and a couple of other blokes went to some sand dunes. But they where a far drive(30km) away along dirt roads.
but the hole day ended in tears when they rolled it. one of them was baddly hert with broken ribs and smashed face. ended up driving most of the way back with two flat tyre and no windscreen.
Im pritty shore you'll find nhulunbuy is the alcohal drinking capital of ausrtalia if not the world, because there nothing else to do. theres also ment to be very good bush bud too that grows wild. The size of the centre link office should impress you.Its huge! you'll see what the abos are like and its pritty sad, if you go you'll see what i mean.
Theres two surf clubs, but no one surf because you'll get eaten buy crocs(crocs sun them selfs on the boat ramp) or sharks or get stung buy boxess.take your pic but its true.
hope that helps.

i was looking at going to work at alcan, but i was advised not to take the missus, keep to myself and to do whatever shifts i could get, aparently there is nothing to do around there,

although have a look at the ariel shots of it on google maps, if you could gegt rid of the crocks it wouldnt be to bad

Funny thread, If you like the out doors ie; fishing, 4x4, speedway, fishing, making money and fishing, then this place is not bad at all.
