Default Roof rack lighting

Because you can never have enough light

Framework was made using slotted angle available from Bunnings and anchored directly to the roof racks which are essentially Unistrut commonly used by electrical and mechanical industries.

Lights are:
1 Pair SCA Eclipse II w/55W globes for rear lighting (old driving lights, good for reversing and tailgaters )
1 Pair SCA worklights w/55W globes for side/rock lighting
2 pair Narva 160/115 combos w/100W globes for front lighting on rack, spots in centre positions, spreads on outer positions
1 Pair Narva 175 combo w/100W globes on front bumper.

Relay/fuse panel is mounted where spare used to be, and switch panel replaces the garage remote holder in the roof console.

Switch Panel

Rear three rocker switches do left side light, rear lights, and right side light respectively. Front switched are spots, unused toggle to fill the hole, and spreads. Toggle will eventually be replaced with a rocker and used to control the bumper mounted lights with a high beam feed for the forward facing rack mounted lights also.

Looking forward to the next night drive

Cool, but not sure how the side lights are going to handle a tree occassionally

The casing is rubber as opposed to hard plastic, so they should just push back and/or deform rather than crack/smash. If they do get destroyed a replacement is only worth ~$40

Fair enough, I have seen people hang those little fog light ones under roof racks too so they are safe from tree rub

The only problem with all the light up top is you loose you're night vision if you're crawling and the spotter cant see a thing under the jeep like where to place the wheels and clearances etc.

When I do the occasional night run and it's crawling I have my headlights on low beam or parkers and turn on the four lights under the Jeep to light that area up without blinding the spotter.

Plenty of light is great if it's just you with no spotter though and real handy at the campsite etc

Nice job regardless though.

Cheers
Steve
