Default Replacing factory radio

I was thinking about replacing the radio/cd player in my new 4 door JK and was looking at the Pioneer deck. Would I need to get iso convertors/adapters for the existing wiring or would they fit into the Pioneer straight up?

if you have the renegade pack. you already have a quality radio/cd and external amp. probably a speaker upgrade would be of more benifit.

Reason for the radio upgrade is that I require bluetooth and Satnav both of which the currect radio doesn't offer.

I haven't pulled out a JK radio so this is pure "might happen".....

The Radio is a CAN node on the internal bus system so its part of the overall vehicle electrical system. On some vehicles the manufactures use the radio node to link in other dash controls ( heater etc... ) and if you pull the radio then things don't work.

BEFORE you spend money on a new system, I'd disconnect the standard JK system and just check that nothing goes wrong with anything else....

As I said - this is just information not facts - but its easy to check and try before you buy.

Doubt it. You will find it will be the opposite. The standard HU (even the REQ coded one which is the renegade pack) would be an average quality unit at best.

hey i have got a pioneer double din head unit installed on my jk, along with new amp and speakers. the HU will need an adapter harness such as the metra cht0-03 for it to use the factory amp. i personally upgraded the HU first(which did make an improvment to sound) but then i installed a new amp and speakers all around so really i didnt need the harness as i have basically re-wired everything anyway(apart from the power supply). also you will need to get the two fascia panels at the side which also hold the stereo securely. and if your going for a double din unit a metal bar at the top-back of the "hole" will need to be cut with a hacksaw.
here are a few links to my setup

I will be installing mine over the next few weeks.

You will need,

Double DIN Brackets/Trim Plate
Metra 95-6511

CAB BUS Interface
Metra CHTO-03

Antenna Adapter
Metra 40-EU10

scotlandjk is correct you will also need to modify a metal brace inside the dash to get it to fit. Nothing difficult.

I sourced all my bits from http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/DK-SUPER-STORE

The whole install should be very simple.

I have attached a pic of the bits.
