I brought a 2nd hand geniune jeep double cardon front shaft and i was just wondering if anyone knows the torque settings for the pinion nut on the front axle and transfer case? i was thinking of markings where the nut is with white out and then torquing up the nut tight and then tighting it up further untill i line up the white out dot. any ideas?
Pinion yolk nut = 160 ft/lbs ,but be aware that pinion bearing preload is set by a collabsble spacer between the two bearings.your supposed to record the turning resistance before removal & set to 5 in/lbs more after re-assemble.To little or to much will damage bearings & or diff.
