Default Poly Performace Coils

Hi all
I have been floundering decisions on which coils to use for a couple of months, and have also noticed many other posts similar, or other Jeepers who are on their second or third set of coils. Previously, I had OME 619's in front, and 618's in the rear. My thoughts were changing were, My rear is to tall, about an 85mm lift. I have a limit of 75mm for my work car park so I need to lower the rear. I want stiffer front coils. My theory only, but I have had death wobbles, gone now, but I believe that a stiffer front end is a better front end on the JK. According to the spec's, the OME coils are the softest on the market. I am not sure however if these pds/inch specs actually mean much. I know there are several peolple looking at the PP's with DBOR now selling them at very competitive prices.

I installed the PP 2" rear coils early this week. They fit much better than
the OME ones, the diameter is much smaller than the OME's so they fit in the factory rubber isolator, and don't go anywhere near the Panhard mount or the fuel tank at full flex, as the OME ones did. For a 2" coil, they are also very long, so you can still use longer travel shocks even though they are only a 2" lift. They look very sexy and shiny, and also look very well made, completely round with all coils being exactly the same diameter. The OME's are all over the shop. I also noticed that they are only progressive at the bottom, after the first 2 or 3 coils they are linear. I have only driven around for a few days and found them to
be on par, maybe a little firmer than the OME's which were pretty comfy,
so, so far so good. The OME's were a little stiff to start with but settled in within a few weeks, so am expecting a great ride with the PP's. I used a 1/2 spacer on the right hand side to eliminate the lean, but need another 5mm or so. I would recomend the use of a 3/4" on initial install (save you doing it again) for the rear to be parallel with a full tank of gas. It raised my vehicle about 85mm to , so fingers crossed they sag about 10 - 15mm, and I will be a happy camper. So you can compare with your JK's, the measurements from the bottom of the rim lip with 17" rims to the underside lip of the flare is (with a full tank of diesel)
RHS 851mm
LHS 855mm

I also added 60kg (my wife) of tow ball weight, it dropped 11mm on the left
and 14mm on the right, as apposed to OME's which dropped 14mm on the left
and 18mm on the right, which means they probably handle a load a little better as well. When they settle say in 1 month, I will do all these measurements again for you including a 150kg load. I did that to see if I needed airbags when I went away with my camper trailer. I don't think there is any difference in the rear weight of a diesel or petrol JK. I will let these settle in for a month, then maybe purchase a matching front set. I had spoken to 1 or 2 guys prior to purchase who both recomended for a diesel Unlimited 3" fro the front and 2" for the rear.
Hopefully, this will be of use to anyone looking to purchase new coils. i will follow this up in a month.

Default PP coils

Thought I would update this just in case anybody is interested, as i did get a couple of PM's. I have now had the PP rear coils in for over 1 month. Very happy with them. they have only sagged about 5mm, and that was with 50kg in the back to help them settle as well. So the 2" rear coils will give about 3" on a 4 door without options on the rear. I received about 75-80mm measured with a full tank.

I was in Melbourne last week so Bill personally delivered a set of 2" front coils. I was undecided between the 2 and 3" in the fronts, as I am looking for over 2" to around 2.5". Thought I would go the 2" coils, as i can always add a 1/2 spacer to get the height I want, as it is a little difficult to lower it. Installed the 2" fronts on the weekend, and what a difference to the ride they made. The ride quality was instantly improved, even the wife noticed, a lot of the jolting around is gone, seems to be obsorbed into the coil and shock. The 2" front coils gave me about 40-45mm. I have an unlimited crd with ARB bullbar. the measurment from the lower edge of the 17" rim to the underlip of the flare is about 812mm. So with a spacer, I will achieve my desired height. Another member on the forum has the 3" front coils on a unlimited diesel with bullbar and winch which gave about 65mm, or 825mm measurment. I would honestly recomend these PP coils for anyone looking for comfort, flex and load carrying, i believe they offer all three. I would probably suggest the 2" fronts for the petrol, and the 3" front for the diesel, which should both give around 2 - 3" of lift.

I looked at getting these coils but PP or BBOR doesn't seem to supply a 2" lift for the 2 door. Can't figure out why, but I guess if you try to put the 2" springs suited for the 4 door into a 2 door the ride will be too firm. Leaning towards the Dobinson progressives from suspensionstuff.

Default PP Coils

I do not think they will ride to firm, but they will give you more than 2". All the PP coils are the same rating, only the height changes. The 2" on a 2 door diesel with bullbar will probably give you about 2 to 2.5 in the front, but you will get more from the rears. Anything less than a 2" lift in the states is considered a spacer lift, so I do not think there is a market for 2" coils in the US.
