Arrow GC Power Window Problems....

The driver's power window very suddenly has stopped working at all.....I can hear a clicking sond on the left side of the dash (same as when other windows operate) ...probably a relay but no voltage drop at battery to indicate power use by window motor and after taking off door trim and accessing all switches and connections and even suppling power direct to motor power connection plug still no-go.....To me this indicates a failed motor, but what surprises me is that there was no warning and now even with fiddling with it seems "it's dead, buried and cremated" - well no trace of burning or fire actually, it's just that the phrase was in my head for some weird reason, dunno why.

Have other peeps had this happen????.....So suddenly???

After talking with Wooders and hoping to get a replacement motor, it now turns out you can get only replacement mechanisms, but not with a motor......I can source them ex States, but first choice is local......Anybody have any leads???? I suppose I could try and find the last auto electricians that can overhaul electric motors.....any leads on one of these dying breed, my last one in Sydney left the game after having his place of business turn into multi million dollar unit development.

When you supplied direct power did you also supply direct earth?
Very unusual for any electric motor to burn out & smell fine.

Yes- supplied power and ground and reversed the connections......to cover possibilities it could be self earthing and/or have two sets of windings for up/down or reversed connections .......It didn't burn out- I was making a topical joke!.....but it has died!

The other possibility is it might be just brushes, if its possible to pull apart they are easy to get.

My Driver side block broke(the common thing) pretty sure i have the motor/gearbox from the old unit still.

You can have it for a small donation.......... plus your 1st born child.

I am down the snow until sunday. Unless you want to drive to Wollongong on the Weekend, i could sort something out with the house sitter.

Why?????........ it seems to be a problem with that motor ONLY not working, it could be the brushes,as mentioned above.......but if I'm going to fix rather than replace the thing with a NEW motor , I want to do a COMLETE rebuild of it.
