Default Factory jeep alloys for Commander

I was given a set of genuine factory alloys off a 99 model Grand Cherakee. I Googled it & it seems they will fit my 06 Commander. I was then advised by a mate of a mate that i need wheel spacers? So i thought i would ask the experts. Ta.

Unless they are 17" (seem to recall what you have been given are 16s) then no, they won't clear front calipers.

Spacers are illegal in Aus.

Agree with Bomber here.

If they are off a 99 Grand they will be 16x7", so too small to clear the Commander front brake calipers, plus they will also have an offset of 50.8mm, which means that they will sit 7mm closer to the body of the car than standard Commander wheels which are 17x7.5" with a 43.8mm offset.

Given that you would need to run spacers no matter what, it's probably best to stick with the original Commander rims.

Hmmm, ok. We have just bought a new property on a dirt road & at the moment it has 22" alloys on it. I was hoping to go back to standards. Anyone want to swap?

Clarky is giving away a set of standard Commander rims at the moment (one damaged, but repairable):

He's located in Lithgow from memory? Not exactly around the corner, but a cheap option for you all the same.

By the way - I think I got the offset thing wrong, because the GC 16x7's are narrower than the Commander 17x7.5's, the backspacing is actually the same on both types of wheels. i.e. 6"

However, this is a moot point as you would need to run spacers to clear the brake calipers regardless because of the 16" diameter.
