Default Auto transmission lines to cooler?

Hi All,

I need advise as to where to buy new or second hand Auto transmission lines to cooler. Mine got clamped some how, I haven't even taken it off road yet..

It is a 1998 XJ Limited and I believe it has a AW–4 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.

(Now learning about the Auto)

clamped ??? up near the sump ??? ... probably from the lower control arm hitting it.

Common fix is just to replace with suitable rubber hose and double clamp it if you dont have a flaring tool.

Lots of writeups and posts on AJOR / other jeep forums on it.

Apparently this is very common, mine did it while up Cape York, cut the section out and replaced it with some cooler hose and viola all good.....

Iv,e had the same problem and fixed it with HEAT RESISTANT RUBBER HOSE.Run the new hose up higher than standard so it,s out of harms way.

Thanks Guys,

That sounds good, I think I will try to re-route it or the next time it could cut the rubber lines and then it could be serious trouble with oil every where if it was not picked up early.

Regards,
Goneagain.

Thank guys for all your advice and Rick1975 for the offer of the lines.

Yesterday I bought the hose and Clamps and will a attempt it tonight.

Is the standard Transmission cooler big enough?

I want to tow a boat about 1650kg and I think it should be fine because my Holden V6 has no problems with it and it has just a standard size cooler.

Your advice would be gratefully received.
