Its a bit more than just swapping FWH on the end of the axles.
Any change to a TJ, XJ, WJ or ZJ? will require new outer shafts and hubs.
Warn do a kit for the D30, not sure it will fit your WJ

It would save little fuel because it's not running the front drive line. Which with locked hubs runs wether it's in 4wd or not it's just not being driven when in 2wd

if you were doing this purely for fuel savings you would be better off going LPG.
the free wheeling hub kit cost well over 1000 bucks. Most guys in the US do it as the new hub is sort of fuse for your axles, ie a part in the hub will break before the axle does and its simple part to change on the trail. From what I have read, the fuel savings are minimal.

If this is the weakest link, it can be the cheapest part to replace and the easiest to get at.

I'm sure over time, savings in wear and tear on everything from tyres all the way through to transfer case including U-joints and every bearing in the front driveline will add up.
All of that including the reduced drag/fuel consumption and the on the track advantages and it makes sense.
