Ok, we kicked off again on Sat with the plan to get all the fab work completed by Sunday.
We had to take the bar off again ( a lot easier now) and grind all the welds off - I went overboard las week and what a buggar to grind them all back.
Once that was done, we started on the winch mounting plate
First we cut it so it would sit flush in the bar, with the fairlead butting the bar.
The with a fair bit of head scratching, we cut the slots to locate the winch plate, then trial fitted the winch, checking clearances.

Ok
Once the winch plate was good, we slipped the bar over that, with every everything lining up great, I marked the position the winch plate needed to be in and we took the bar off.
With the battery disconnected, I welded the plate in on all sides on the top.
And then welded the bar on, in the places I could access. Once that was done, we took the bar off.
The top section of the bar was measured up and cut out for winch installation and clearance.
The rest of the welding was done then, along with a bit of tidying up and holes drilled

I used either a mig or arc welder depending on thickness of material or access to certain areas. I also tried t save the ARB sticker.
Stiffeners were added to the outside edge to safeguard against sideways pulling.
With most of the welding done, things were cleaned up, edges rounded, all holes drilled and getting ready for the next step.

Well, we are getting close now.
Fairlead holes cut - time to bolt on the shiny bit of alloy
