Hmmm, you might be onto something there
Think it might be more the tint then anything else. Know of a few others that have found the same issue though.

Well for an update, after my bitching session on the wkend I got my email I have been waiting for today. Dec build and march delivery with all the right options.
Feel so much better now!!

OK, interesting comments! Just asked the missus and she said she has no problems and would not have considered it dark. However, I have had someone comment before that mine has silver highlighting on the gauges where most are black, so perhaps that is part of the reason I am not seeing the issue.
Is you dash all black or like this? (this isnt mine, just a pic I found on the web):
