2500 ??? is he replacing it with a brand new diff housing and internals as well ??? , i thought 600 was cheep for a rebuild , maybe 8/900 seams to be closer to the average, as others said go second hand for a d35 .

Did the bloke say what specifically was broken/worn?
Don't accept "It's stuffed and needs a full rebuild".
You MIGHT be able to repair it FAR cheaper if you know this.

I really wouldn't pursue the lokka option (due to axle weakness) a rebuilt lsd is fine for most things especially reliability in a d35.
I rebuilt/regeared my d35 and have never regretted it as I run 30's so a bigger heavier diff was in my opinion unwanrranted.
I regularly get $150 for a good working d35.
$2500 would have to include heavy duty axles and a replacement centre.....

I sold my d35 for $50 - nothing wrong with it. Was sick of tripping over it.
