STAUN Tyre Deflators

Delfating tyres can be a pain, lets face it, standing at your wheel for minutes on end and constantly checking with a guage gets on anyones nerves.
Enter the Staun tyre deflators. They have to be one of the quickest and easiest products to use.
No more wasting time using tyre gauges and waiting 10 minutes to air down, just pop these on and your at the pre set pressure first time and within minutes for all four wheels.
Step 1 Deflate your spare tyre to the pressure you wish to set your deflators at.
Step 2 With locking ring and adjusting cap wound down, screw the deflator onto the valve stem making sure its clean and that the thread goes on straight.
Step 3 Loosen cap (anticlockwise) until deflator pops open, then immediately tighten the cap to the position where the air stops coming out.
Step 4 Turn lock ring up to adjusting cap and tighten to ensure it will not move.
There you go, the tyre deflator is now set to the deflation pressure. Adjustments can be made at a rate of approximately 3psi per half turn of the adjusting cap.
They also come with a leather pouch so you have no excuse for losing them and keeping them clean and out of the way.
The best part, its an Australian owned and operated company so support local industries.
Price: Approx $65 [July 03]

Initial set up on the Stauns can be a bit fiddly but once set, mine have been fine - been used regularly for over 6 years and never had to re-adjust anything.
And I've never wished or needed them to be faster.

I don't worry about whether they are accurate or not because you don't really know what you need to set them up to anyhow.
If you wanted to have them set for every situation, you would need to carry about ten sets!
I just use them for a quick initial deflation and then fine tune for the anticipated terrain with the old tyre guage.
Nine times out of ten I just run with whatever it lets the tyres down to if it is only a short run. If I need to let more out, I worry about it then!
I think people get a bit too technical with tyre pressures. It really is a "suck it and see" thing.

Adjust one to the right setting and line up the rest against that one, then adjustment the other three to the same distance, test and tighten.
hope that helps
