ok so I'm in the US at the moment and it got me thinking...
The Chevvy Colorado dual cab 2.8CRD has a payload of 670kg in the US
The Holden Colorado dual cab 2.8CRD has a payload of 1085kg in AUS
Hopefully for once, the Aus regulations require less than the USA and perhaps the Gladiator will be bumped up in payload capacity for Australia?

US specs don't mean much at this point, JL Rubicon (4 door) has a Max towing of 1587kg in the US (roughly) and 2495kg here. So we get the best part of 1000kg extra towing. Imagine the JT capacities will be upped to reflect competitions weights etc.
Cheers
Steve

With the right canopy, methinks this car will be the car to own by those that have been previous owners of LR defenders, particularly with a diesel engine.

Google: JT gladiator canopy ...and see images. Not sure at this stage what other options eitherJeep or the aftermarket will offer. One thing is for sure, it will offer plenty of enclosed room for cargo and touring.
