Buying a WK2 very soon Edit: Bought a WK2
Hey all,
I've been a Jeep owner for years now, have had the WJ Limited V8 for ages and love it, however am sick of the fuel consumption of the thing. Planning on doing the Simmo later this year, so looking for a more suitable rig to do it in.
I've contemplated getting a Ranger, Everest, Triton and a Landcruiser, however have come back to Jeep, I looked at an 2012 CRD Overland yesterday, I reckon I'll pull the trigger on this bad boy throughout the week.
I can't wait, looks to be a massive upgrade over the WJ. Now to pull all the goodies off the WJ before trading it in
Any tips on what I should look out for? The thing looks mint, very clean underneath and only done 70k

Service history, all recalls completed.
Also, AC working properly cold & no gas leaks (e.g. condenser) and correct engine oil (should be using a 5W40 low ash, not 5W30). These are common topics worth reading about in other threads.

Ah, I didn't even think about the recalls, that's a bloody good point.
Service history looks to be up to date, the thing looks like it's been babied, it's mint. I've been reading a ton about them, the more I read, the more I like them. It will be a good change from the WJ guzzler, and more comfortable.

I had the same feeling about mine when I found it. Mint condition, FSH, and didn't even have a tow bar (a plus point imo) so no towing work. I had the bar fitted for pulling the van, didn't mind the cost. It's a great car to live with, very capable, cheap as chips on fuel. Only had couple of AC issues with mine, a new condenser and currently a 'growling' noise which I think is the TX valve protesting, yet to fix. Both common issues. I also replaced the alternator before it had chance to let me down, it's another common watch-out once you get up past 70-80k, they work hard in these cars.

Yeah this one doesn't have a tow bar, I'm not fussed, I think I'll add some sort of rear bar for recovery points anyway, I have barely towed with mine over the years. Offroad Animal has a rear bar setup that bolts to the tow bar points and has recovery points, pricey, but looks alright.

Well, goodbye to the old WJ guzzler, I will miss your comfy seats and loud V8 roar, but I will not miss filling up at every town when out bush.
Just sealed the deal on the WK2, it's a 2012 Overland, beautiful condition, nice and straight, 76k's, all the goodies. All the bells and whistles seem to work, she's as clean as a whistle underneath. I do have to get skid plates for it, I've downloaded the build sheet, it seems it comes with every option possible, apart from skid plates, grr. I'll get my neighbour to knock some up I recon.
Now the bull bar and the extras, I like the look of the front of the thing, I've been tossing up the idea of a Bullbar, but it makes it look like every other 4x4 Nissota on the road, however quite like the front bar thingo that Offroad Animal offers, for the price of a bullbar I can get that, the nudge, tow hooks, bash plate and rock rails and worry about a rear bar later if need be.

I was thinking the same thing re: bullbar. The front of a GC look really nice from factory. Those Offroad Animal accessories look really good. I’ll be interested in seeing what you end up doing.
