wasn't there something in an earlier thread that said the camshaft and crankshaft info looked OK?
It could very easily be something like what JeanLuke said though.

Silly as it sounds...are you sure there wasnt a fuel or breather line 'pinched or kinked' when the box was removed and replaced during the flex plate job ?....if it will run on starter fluid(you said up to 1200rpm even if its only a short time) it will run...sooooo....I was thinking 'wrong flex plate' too...but...it appears to be doing everything right except run...interesting thread...love chasing the source of faults...not the fault...the source of it....GOOD LUCK

EDIT:
I just checked the factory manual. The crank sensor does run on the flex plate
A few things to check: - The flex plate should have 2 missing sensor teeth that signals cylinder 1 TDC to the ECU.
- There is a locating pin between the flex plate and the crank flange. That is, the flex plate should only be installed in one orientation relative to the crank. Did the mechanic get this right? If not, it will stuff up the cylinder 1 TDC signalling.
- The correct flex plate part number is 05080065AA.
- There should be a spacer washer between the flex plate and the crank, and another on the outboard side between the flex plate and the bolt hears. The inside one would be important to align the sensor teeth with the sensor.

so everything has checked up alright so far, sensors are all fine, injectors are fine, all fuel systems have correct pressures.
It looks like a signaling issue for when to fire, i have read that there is a couple variations of flex plates available that were used in different sprinter vans that are not compatible with the jeep, beginning to think that maybe one of these has been installed, is there any way to tell if this is the case?
is the part number printed on the flex plate anywhere so it can be checked?
does anybody know the location the missing teeth should be at to signal TDC?

I have a spare 2.7crd at home with flex plate still installed. I can have a look to see where the tooth sections are relative to the crank sensor hole when the harmonic balancer is at TDC . I think there is a faint TDC mark on the Harmonic balancer.
Only broblem is I am away at the moment, but will be home in a few days.
