hi
i bought main seal on e bay cost me $20
with o rings i'll go to local bearing shop they shoud have them. anyone here know the size of them? it'll be good if i can get them before i pull it apart.

By bearing do you mean spigot bearing ? I don't know the size but I know wooders stocks them for $8. What was the link for your eBay RMS would be keen if he/she stocks other VM seals

i meant size of o-rings.
i took the seal off and measured it. search on ebay and i got this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rotary-sh...item4147e555d1
it is not vm or jeep part but it fits and it only cost me 20 incl postage
by the way thanks for the offer but im in sydney

you need to make sure its viton & not NBR.
NBR will not take the temperature.

That's not a bad deal but as layback suggested make sure it's not NBR..did a quick read up and NBR seals can't take more than 80 degrees celcius. The VM would get a lot hotter than that

Just about all other automotive applications for the VM 2.5 TD used viton Orings & seals.
The TD used in the jeep left the VM factory with an engine numbers that were for industrial/marine applications. The number was supposed to be changed when it was put in the jeep in the US. Mine didnt have the number change. It caused me a little grief when I first registered it in Vic ~ another story. I suspect that all the Orings & seals in the engines are low temp rubber.

the original seal i took out vasn't viton and it lasted 200 000km
|
