OK now I'm interested.
I remember reading about a guy on JU who did a cut & stretch, he was running a soft top.
You could also look at what that beast40 guy did.

Don't mind cutting ala Beast/firetruck style - BUT I really do have to retain the back seat - so the only option I can think of is to extend the body - plus a bit more room there would be nice.

ok extened it behind the door and before the guard! cut body in half there, add say 6" to it, reweld, also cut chassis on the flat section below the seats, reweld, get new roof made, extend driveshaft. will give you more room in the back and another 6-8" of wheelbase depending. can also extend the rear of the tub while your at it behind the rear guards, add 3" there, give you more cabin space, but will give you a dumpy arse, will be like a cj8 then.

Sounds like you just described an Unlimited, JimmyB! If the whole increase in tub length was kept to the same as the Unlimited, you could then just import an aftermarket Unlimited soft-top.

make it the same length as the unlimited and import the rear driveshaft !

Dude. Just get a different heep, which is longer.
Or get a different car altogether.
