if you buy a wrangler you will have to change your name to "butch in a real jeep" lol

You should be able to get a new Auto 2-door for much less than that - I know of one dealer with a CRD Auto for $32k

buy a used tj off a soft-roader- should be able to get it cheap as they would be ready to get a newer model. bonus would be low ks and no offroad stress. if wife wants it to drive bitumen, then you will need no mods.
