i put a set of update tailgate struts on my mate VL commodore's bonnet, they wouldnt hold the tailgate up. but they where still too strong for the bonnet it actually bent his bonnet where the stuts where sitting.
im looking at a set of vs commodore bonnet stuts to do mine.

If you plan to buy struts, I would buy from the gasstrutguys on e-bay. I have bought various struts which always work really well........actually a little too well in some cases. I've only fitted one new one to each of my XJs update rear hatches.
