... and (sorry to labour the point), Current YTD sales of all models of Jeep, show that the KL leads the pack within the Jeep family with regard to US sales.

Yeah the Mrs is loving it.
We are taking the KL on its first small trip. We are going up to Lancelin (west Aus) for some driving in the sand and fishing... Cant wait to see how she handles the soft sand. Would love to get a spacer kit for it and some tires but the Mrs wont approve me modifying both Jeeps.

Tip for the beach, if you see any sign of soft sand engage low range. Easiest way is to slow down to below 10kmh hit the low range button and then knock it into neutral. As it slows below 5kmh it will engage with ease first go every time. Same process for going back to high range.
The reason, after much experimentation and no info from Jeep is in low range the rear clutch pack is locked up and will not over heat. High range in soft sand will eventually over heat and disengage 4wd - then you sink...
Edit: you can also do up to 80kmh in low range no probs but then the speed regulator kicks in

+1. Call me old fashioned, but even aside from the overheating issue, I like the 'predictability' of low range and a locked centre diff, and the option of locking the rear diff. I find all the Selec-terrain stuff pretty gimmicky and unintuitive, and am not really a fan of turning the magic dial, crossing my fingers and driving into whatever situation while hoping the computer will figure out what to do. Did that once, got bogged (but in low range with rear diff locked, went through like it was nothing).
