This was my old girl..... It has moved on now to a new home :cry
I do have a replacement sitting at the back of my shop waiting for some time to get it back on the road. I found after owning a J20 you can't not have one somewhere.
THe next one will just be a fun car with no plans of racing. Thats why I'm building the XJ's.....lol

Gaston the Truck
Currently getting a new rear window fitted (if the glass fitter can find one).
I've had it for about 5 years I suppose. I had owned an XJ (since sold) and I was looking for a cheap TJ at the time and this thing turned up for $2000 odd at a dealer in south sydney. I bought it mostly for a short period of amusement but it's so handy I can't make myself sell it. Moving house? Get an FSJ. Need firewood? Get an FSJ. Renovating your house? ...
It hasn't been off road much, although the previous owner kindly fitted new lifted springs, Rancho 5000s, a 2nd fuel tank and dual batteries. I've redone the A/C with new gas (very, very frosty!) and ditched the awful 2150 carb for a 4 barrel Edelbrock carb and matching performer manifold. It sounds awesome although it's incredibly loud due to an exhaust that looks like a drain pipe. It needed a new radiator and starter motor and brake shoes, but other than that it's been unbelievably reliable for something with 310,000km on the clock. It did leave me stranded recently when the ancient heater pipes blew, but some roadside fixes sorted that out. There's a bit set of IPF spots on the front now too.
Mostly, it gets firewood and building supplies for our endless renovation, but I'm set on doing at least one camping trip this year if I can talk at least one of the kids into going.
It really, really needs LPG as the amount of fuel it can use would send me broke if I didn't ride a bicycle to work.

1981 Cherokee
*original purchaser had this custom paint applied (according to mascot motors)
*do i look stressed? never. note that the sand on the beach access track, just before you get to diggers camp, near wooli, nsw, is VERY soft!
*almost every imaginable thing on this car has failed in the 6 years of my ownership, but at least it has character
*for instance, the reason i was stuck in this spot was that car stopped dead facing slightly uphill on this sandy track, courtesy of an intermittent electric fuel pump.
regards
alexander.

I just love that statement, I guess it is a FSJ thing!

Hey good to see more FSJ's re-appearing. Must be heaps more in back yards and sheds all over the country.
Agree with the comment about everything being replaced- i sort of got on the front foot with mine and have replaced a lot of stuff that even looked like it may have shit itself in the future.
Gives me quality time in the shed away from SWMBO.

Everything shitting itself doesn't chage with cj's either. They are getting on a bit though.
