Any cooler will work, the bigger the better. If you're going to be cutting pipes and running flexible tubes around, you may want to fit a tranny temp gauge as well just to keep an eye on things.

It is more important to watch the way you drive. No cooler will handle continues converter slipping. Drive over 2000 rpm, select gears to keep out of converter slip.
A couple of minutes at 1800rpm with the converter stalled and your oil will be toast. Don't leave the transmission in drive while stopped.

Hi guys, bumping this instead of starting a new thread..
Does a trans cooler solve the excessive heat you get at the footwell of the cabin? Biggest gripe with the transmission for me, it really gets hot at your feet.

I put my money on your exhurst heating the floor. Wrap some insulation around the exhurst under and forward.you have to do the transmission cooler aswell, that's a given.

Its been like that on both XJs ive had. maybe its worth a new thread then if its not the tranny

I was going to loop at installing a cooler and I got some advise off one of the members on here via PM. Question I have is I think it already has one. I will add some photos. What is this on the front of the radiator?
