JK / Jeep Reliability
First off, this is not a dig at Jeep, I love my JK and would / will prob buy another down the track. The question though, is there a general issue with reliability? The reason for the question, mine has just run out of warranty and has had the following warranty work done:
- Rear Transfer case seal replaced (blew out at a week old dumping fluid over the driveway)
- Passenger door seal replaced
- Clock spring replaced
- Ignition leads replaced due to insulation breaking down shorting to exhaust (had to pay for these - considered consumable)
- Rear O2 sensor wiring burnt out on exhaust heat shield (not found by Dealer on 3 attempts, found and fixed myself)
- Tie rod replaced
- Drag link replaced
- Front axle uni's replaced (both)
- Rear wheel speed sensor replaced
- Ball Joints replaced
- Windscreen header rubber replaced (on the 10th attempt to stop water leaks)
- And currently stalls at random times in mid intersection and won't restart for 10 to 20 minutes (with Electronic Throttle Control warning - still no fault/fix found.
It has so far cost Jeep a fortune in parts and labour, I am now wondering is it going to cost me fortune!
As a comparison, my work vehicle (Mitsubishi Outlander) was bought a year earlier than the JK and has double the km's on it (140,000km as opposed to 68,000km). The only issue it has had so far was an intermittent electrical fault I found due to a service tech half knockin out the main connector to the Body Control Module. Nothing has been repaired or replaced under warranty on it.
Thoughts?

JK / Jeep Reliability
I've had my JKU for three years now & happy to say its been very reliable, only warranty claim in that time was for a stripped seat height adjuster & that was only because I tried to remove it without the right tools

Why??
That comment seems sarcastic
Your old girl goes anywhere never gives you an ounce of trouble
And you never get stuck
