Auto transmission problem?
I just bought a Jeep Cherokee 3.7L auto.
Reverse gear just will not engage?
Oil looks fine, all other gears seem normal as well.
Is this a common problem?

Thanks for the replies.
John,
I'm located on Brisbane's north side.
Bleet,
Haven't checked fluid by the book.
No don't hear servos (it's like being in neutral)
Goes forward OK
Has been suggested to start by replacing the oil and go from there. Which I think I should do.

Unfortunately knowing the auto trans behind the 3.7lt V6 Petrol, which is a wishy washy rubbish box, the final road will likely be to replace the transmission.
To check levels correctly, search the KJ forum, I did a post some time ago that goes through the correct way to ensure the level is spot on. Chrysler boxes are very finicky when it comes to the correct levels.
If you end up replacing the box, just get another from a wreckers and put it in.
Regards
Daz

If you end up needing another transmission, I have one sitting under the house.
