Wrangler soft top help
Just purchased my first wrangler, it only came with the hard top. Does anyone know if all jk soft tops fit each other?
I have a 2015my16, and have found the soft top setup off a 2012 and 2017, I’m just not sure if any of them will fit?
I tried calling Jeep but the bloke in parts wasn’t sure.
Thanks

If in doubt go for the 2017.
I got a 2018 JK Soft Top for my 2015 and it fitted fine.

The soft tops themselves will fit all models. The difference is in the brackets that bolt onto the rear roll cage that the soft top fits into to hold it into place.
I could be wrong but I think the brackets changed around 2012 from memory. The 2017 soft top will definitely fit a 2015 though.
If you can purchase an unopened boxed up soft top with everything included, you will be able to fit it across all years.

The soft tops and door surrounds changed in 2010 from the style that has a lip that the soft top has to be folded under to the type that has a lip that the soft top sits on.
If you do get a pre-2010 soft top but 2010+ door surrounds, the lip that the soft top sits on is attached to the door surrounds with giant metal staples that can be removed to remove the lip and convert it to the earlier style.
The soft tops changed again in 2012/2013 to a more robust folding mechanism but the door surrounds didn't change.
I have soft top from a 2011 and a 2015 and the 2011 soft top fabric feels thinner and less durable.
So basically, just go for the latest model year that you can get for a good price and make sure you get the door surrounds to go with it. Don't forget the brackets that attach it to the rollcage, the door surround bolts (knobs) and also the tailgate bar with its brackets.
