Jeeps repairs
Has anyone in the Brisbane area used Hammonds Jeeps at Bulimba? I had my Jeep in for repairs to the rear leaf springs. The Jeep was down on the drivers side. I was told it is a problem with Jeeps. Hammonds answer was to add add-a-leaf springs. This did not sort the problem out. Just wanting to know if there are other with this same problem and what they did to repair it. :(

Yeah was thinging the same. Just come back from Fulcrum Suspension and they tell me the front coils need to be replaced, alone with the rear to be reset. All going to cost around $500. As alone as it is level.

hmm normally i ave heard it being a front problem, and putting in different size spacers above the coils to level out, maybe it is in the front and the rear is struggling to compensate?

Jeeps repairs
Davyd, I have used Hammond for major service...seemed Ok but little attention paid to detail, things such as oil spilt and not cleaned up, oil applied to catches on doors etc allowed to run down body, HT leads not returned to retaining clips etc, minor things maybe but one wonders about the rest of the unseen work.
Anyway, I had my '96 XJ sagging rear springs looked at by City Suspension at Springwood recently. Springs were reset and a leaf added, lifted her by about 60mm, total cost was $291, rides good, I am happy.

Thanks BrizXJ. I will be getting another quote. I got to get this problem sorted out. It looks like crap with most of the sag to the drivers side. Thanks again.

BrizXJ, I should add, I took the Jeep to Hammond’s believing that they knew what they would be doing. After they added the add-a-leaf springs, the Jeep was too high in the bum and still was leaning to the driver’s side. They said they got it wrong and would fix it. They tried and still could not get it right. We learn by our mistakes.
