Inskip Point, Rainbow Beach
Planning a trip to Inskip Point with a group of 8. Anybody been to Inskip Point before? I've never been, and from what I've read there are campsites with 2wd and 4wd access. I will be towing a trailer with provisions - water, food, camping equipment behind the Cherokee.....am I likely to have problems getting the trailer in and out of inskip? Intend on walking the tracks first, but curious to know of others' experiences in the area? May be a 2wd with us, so I might need to have to tow rope handy lol! No seriously, any probs getting a 2wd in there?
Rgds,
Cherokee

hey mate, been to inskip a bit, there are camping sights all the way along the tarred road from rainbow to the fraser barges. these are accessible by 2wd no dramas there, im not sure of other camping at inskip, but the beach driving round there is also pretty good if it hasnt been raining you will have to let your tyres down to get around the soft sand but otherwise nothing bad. Hope you have a great trip

We were up there all last week. It was pretty busy, as it always it, but it's busy because of the 2wd access. We don't camp there because it's so busy. There's toilets and such but showers are back in town at the laundromat.
BTW, the fish and chip shop next door to the laundromat was selling local spotted sand crabs for $1.00 each!!! We bought 10 and they fed us for 2 days! BARGAIN!
(it was the quietest aust-weekend we've ever seen up there but i guess it's not school holidays)

Princess,
Dates are still to be confirmed, but am planning it so I miss the school holiday chaos - hoping to some extent to miss the crowd? Your thoughts?

If you want a great spot, with toilets and showers, and almost 2wd access, Freshwater creek is a great camp, its back from the beach and free of backpackers and their WICKED campers.
Been there twice and its just magic.
Access is from the beach or the Rainbow beach road.

I think you could define Inskip into 2 categories - busy, or very busy For 2wd access your choices are inskip, tin can bay caravan park, rainbow beach caravan park, elanda camp ground, noosa north shore or you MIGHT get into poverty point. They're all marked on cooloola shire maps.
Gildo, there's no 2wd access to freshwater it's either from the beach or freshwater track which is about 45mins in 2nd gear. We almost became bogged in august on the track...
