    thought the same thing, till i went an had a look see at the JK's front, which is a 30..completely different kettle of fish..
    used this as a guide too...

    i don't think it's a 30...
    the pics don't show it, but the dimensions match the rear diff and the shape is the same...

      The shape of the diff hat or the housing? If it's the hat, they are different shapes. The D44 rear is more angular than the dana 30. The front diff hat is rounded like the link you posted, regardless of the bumps and holes in the actual covers. It's the gasket surface you need to look at.

      BUT if it's a D44, then well done you. Very rare find!

        Sorry it's D30 front & D44 rear.
        Excactly the same diffs under my CJ5 & my CJ6.....

            Haha nuthin too much from the last..had a few hectic weekends with inlaws, hopefully it'll be back to normal soon.
            Then if that harley sells, that motor is on order...
