Interesting comment about SIRF Star III dominating the Venus 6 chipset, the seller on Ebay describes it as "1 SEC ACQUISITION VENUS 6.0 TECH BETTER THAN SIRF III". Can you please explain this? Good point about the data logging capability. Do you know if you can data log onto your HDD with Oziexplorer?

Steve, are these the free topographical maps of NSW you have?

I'm in the process of downloading them.

Exactly. I've now got Oziexplorer on my laptop but I haven't had a play around with it yet. I tried following some off road trails on Google Earth and you are right because they completely disappear in places due to the tree tops covering the tracks. I'm going to use a combination of Oziexplorer and Google Earth, do you know if it's possible to have both applications open together with your GSP location displayed on both programs simultaneously?

Hey you nonga, unless I'm mistaken the DX price is in US dollars because when I clicked on Checkout they wanted to charge me $83 compared to the $48 on Ebay (which is also free postage).

Yep,those are the maps I have (plus others I think) You can run both applications if you use a utility to send the GPS output to two COM ports so that each piece of software gets the same data through it's own COM port. I use xport to split the port to two so my laptop can run multiple GPS programs from the one GPS.
