i would prefer a mickey t or pro comp and would be happy to pay the extra
if i were to use a maxxis i would use a radial trepador as they are light years
ahead of the bighorn and were quieter by far .
there is a new patter bighorn on the way that is nearly the same tread pattern
as the toyo open country mt i believe this will be quieter onroad .

i run these and they grip quite well and have been happy with them but wear reasonably quickly due to the soft compound

A mate runs these on his patrol and have not had a good run and had a blow out on out last trip, probably 30% worn and also wear very quickly with many chunks missing but otherwise offroad grip reasonably well

Yeah i am basically looking at the same thing for my 2dr Rubi with 2" Mopar lift. 70% road/highway 30% offroad but soft sand and want them able to tackle mud too.
Same size. Wanted Cooper St @ $450, but Bighhorn $360 in that size seems the real value. Thats Perth prices. Probably better deal for 5 and cash. Quoted $497 for KM2 so their out.

That is about the right price for Victoria.
Bighorns are the cheapest in a 17" tyre (285/70 R17) but I find then very noisy. Even though the KM2's are bloody expensive, they are amazingly quiet for a mud terrain tyre.
But then again, if you like noisy tyres, then the Bighorns are the go.
I do not know about the Coopers so I can not comment.

This tyre is fairly cheap, Kumho KL71 MT It seems to get good feedback for the price maybe someone here might be able to give some first hand feedback about them (isnt the Spambulance the resident tyre guru)
http://www.winmilltire.com/images/KUMHO_KL71.jpg
I was quoted $289 fitted for a 285/75R16 so the 17" would be slightly dearer

I want a tyre that will corner at 200+ kms an hour, Churn through mud like a bogger, climb the rocks like a sticky comp trep, generate 2.5gs through a bend in the pouring rain and it has to be quiet on the road and under $300 a tyre what do you suggest?
