Angry KJ Air Conditioning Problem

HI Guys,

Needing to tap into this wealth of knowledge again, beginning to think very little of my KJ with the problems I am having!!

My latest drama is with the a\c, plenty of dye was visible on top of the filter/drier so I ordered the replacement part from Paul @Stockhill in UK (thanks to you guys). I have just had local mechanic fit and re-gas. On the first drive was beautiful and cold for a while then compressor started cutting out, proceeded to get worse the longer we were in the car i.e. longer periods of time without cutting back in. Taken back to the mechanic pressures suppossed to be 200 psi High and 40 psi Low, they are getting High drop down to approx 100 and low up to 75, then settles again once compressor cuts back in? He has now given me my money back and removed all gas and doesn't want to know about it.

Not sure what to do now, maybe head to an A/C guru but they are hard to find at short notice, also thinking if this is going to cost me heaps maybe I will just offload this problem child.

Please help, hanging to hear if anyone has experienced similar and knows the way out.

Matt

Are you getting a P0530 code?????? Could be a sensor playing up. Theres a low press switch in the filter drier ,if you bridge this & the comp turns then its low gas.Dont try to run it like this for more than a few min tho cause if gas is low it means oil level is also low. You can remove plug & bridge contacts with paper clip( if your game), if compressor works normally and gets cold then it means gas is low or that sensor is Faulty or not plugged in properly.

I'd say try an actual Aircon specialist.

Been to the A/C guy, suspected the low pressure switch on the filter/drier but the next time it stopped working I pulled over and bridged the switch without result. Not getting the 0530 code still get 0146 occasionally ' lost comms with central gateway'(or similar). A/C Man was dumbfounded otherwise, mentioned we would probably be looking down the barrel of lots of labour, dash removal etc to find fault. He suggested probably best to offload the vehicle. A lot of guys up here just aren't interested in working on these cars, can hear the apprehension in their voices as soon as you say Jeep.

If I jump in the car in the morning first drive the A/C is beautiful after about 1/2 hour starts playing up blowing hot air, might then cycle back in a few times briefly, quite painful in the Tropics this time of year!!
