I beg you all (NSW folk) to write to the roads minister and ask him to STOP the sham - come clean - stop the secret meetings - leave our 4x4 way of life alone! - below is a copy of the letter I just sent

Dear Roads Minister,
I appreciate the fact that there was an horrendous accident that is now being responded to with the implementation of VSI50, however as a family man 45yrs old I don't consider myself as a hoon and I feel strongly about the new legislation as I believe it will have adverse affects on many Australians ability to explore this great nation and experience the 4x4 getaway lifestyle.

I am a Law abiding citizen not a hoon and I drive a modestly modified 4x4 - I have an engineers certificate for everything modified including the composition of the rubber bushes in my shock mounts LoL and as a film maker I am worried that with the new legislation the next vehicle I purchase will essentially be a mall crawler (LoL again) with no ability to venture into the Great Australian outback.

I have participated in many search and rescue missions with the state emergency services and can assure you that a standard vehicle is not capable of driving some of the roads we have searched!

I hear leaks and mistruths coming out of the VSI50 committee rooms (Why is this process cloaked in secrecy and not transparent to the public, who I might add VOTE) that the NSW Government needs to have a register of all modified vehicles - may I humbly point out that it already has - My engineered vehicle is and has been recorded by the RTA - my rego sticker on the windscreen of my car states this fact!

I appeal to you to Stop the VSI50 legislation NOW as I am certain in its current form it will be the death of the Aussie 4x4 getaway lifestyle!

and I had another thought...I have a flyer in my hands promoting 4wding as a primo "50 Unforgetable Boys' Own adventures in NSW". First page you open up to is 4wding showing what every boy 'n girl has change for - a Hummer as one of its first interests to entertain yourself in this State - can we get 'em to fight the good fight among themselves to a degree?
