Default repco radiators

I had a repco radiator fitted a few weeks ago and was wondering what these are made of and do they still have the plastic tanks?.It is ok so far and sits at around 100F moving, and a little higher in traffic, but turn the heater fan on before it rises and it stays right.I asked for a adrad but the mechanic warned me otherwise saying the brass copper radiator springs leaks in high heat circumstances.Have filled it with formula x coolant from KMART at the moment[4$.75= 5litres]Todaytonight gave this coolant a good review along with Tectloy and castrol but the main reason for me using this coolant is I am still checking for leaks and will use a better one when things are stable.Fitted a tru flow water pump too, which is a Jap unit,I think it should be OK.

I'm pretty sure your repco rad would have the plastic end tanks. I guess people have different opinions on plastic radiators vs copper brass, but at least copper brass rads can be soldered up if (when?) they spring a leak. 100 degrees when you are moving and higher still when in traffic sounds a little too high to me, most xj's (mine included) sit around 95 degrees the majority of the time. If your clutch fan is the original one it is probably cactus and you should replace it. Wooders or rockauto are good places to buy from...
