Funnily enough my brother is law says to me the same thing nearly everytime he services a car the fuel filter is blocked with brown crud, which he can force some of it out using an air hose. He says to me make sure I only run 98 as all the other gear is too unclean.

Still having dramas with fuel delivery. I am getting very skilled at removing the fuel tank. Takes just 10 mins to remove and replace the tank by myself. I have replaced all the fuel hoses with Gates EFI hoses. Now I am getting 80 PSI before the fuel reg, and that is the problem now for the standard Jeep Fuel pump. the pump stops when I am idling for about 30 secs. This is also the case when I am slowing down for a corner. I think the pump is overheating trying to push 80 PSI. It is ok when I am driving as the fuel is cooling the pump with fuel flow. I have ordered a new pump and I hope this will fix this problem. The pump draws 5 amps whem working OK then drops to 2 amps and no pressure. I might fill the tank and see if this externally cools the pump. Otherwise, it goes like the clappers. Scares a lot of HSV's up here...

Got the new pump from the States and installed it without any dramas. Pushing out 85PSI into the stock Regulator. Didn't stop all weekend, so I am happy for now...

Maybe the stock pump needs a return line. it could have been cavitating when the regulator was limiting fuel delivery, rather than bypassing it back to the tank. This is an awesome build mate. are you still selling it? I'm near you (inland), and quite interested.....pm a price. I was planning on doing a v8 conversion to the one i just got (95 XJ) but this may save me the time, and the missus can have the 4.0 as it is before i start spending all my money on it.
