I also said self recoverable (i.e. winch), which in this circumstance looks like it crapped out fairly quickly making the vehicle under the minimum requirements if you want to play the point scoring game.
It happens.

YMMV, we're all big kids now and can work out for ourselves what is an accpetable risk or not, granted there is a duty of care, which was shown, with Richo helping him back to the main road.
I really don't see the issue.

Thanks for stating the obvious though, it helps.

I've never done that track before, if I had have I certainly wouldn't have done it in the wet. I did consider cancelling completely due to the rain but I try to take any opportunity to go bush. It's probably a good thing that I got stopped where I did, I'd probably still be digging it out today if I'd got any further.

As MC4X4 says you're not wheeling unless the cable comes out. Well it's out now ... on the garage floor in preparation for my long weekend project - winch autopsy. Then it's round to Bill's to contribute to his retirement fund

Chinese winch fanboys should take heed of this... Vic slop will expose your Chinese junk even if your wheeling mates can tolerate your inferior spooling speeds.

Ps. Richo time to get 40s on the heamaroid
