What Jeep do I drive?: KJ
Default Vibrations!!!

2005 KJ Limited 2.8 diesel auto.
When travelling in RWD have a vibration like running over ripple strips at about 1800 RPM, 80 - 90 KPH ish, revving out gets rid of it. In 4WD hear a kind of soft clunk regularly, then when reversing in 4WD a constant clunk, clunk, clunk continuously. It all sounds like front left side, but could be wrong, haven't had time to have a look underneath will do in daylight tomorrow.
Any clues on whee the issue could be?
ALL advice is welcome.

Check CV's, Look for torn boots with lots of crud in em.

Check your drive shafts for lots of free play in all directions.

If not one of those two , Check for wheel weights contacting suspension struts, or big clumps of mud in your wheels??

Ok I've verified that it is the drive shaft that has failed.
Morris 4 x 4 don't list them for the 2.8.
I've been on e-bay and detroit axle have rebuilt ones for< $70 plus shipping, I've decided to do both drive shafts at the same time at their price. If I can find the correct ones on their site, they don't seem to answer e-mails too well.

Any other suppliers with reasonable prices?

Be very careful about ordering left and right side front axles. The Petrol and CRDs use different length axles due to the offset front diff in the CRDs. You must buy the CRD axles. You could try to get your current ones reconditioned and that might be the cheapest option, and quickest. THere are a number of CV reconditioning businesses in Australia and most large cities have at least one. You can buy them online from JBA in the US but the shipping will kill you. You can also try a wrecker. My recommendation is to get them rebuilt if you can.

Default STEALERship Prices

I've ordered my two front drive shafts from www.JeepChryslerParts.co.uk $417 delivered. Jeep Australia, Geelong quoted $1500 ea, that's $3000 for the two, saving over $2500 from the UK! I had to get them, to their total disbelief to re-check the price as I could'nt believe that much difference in price.
